电影也可以这样拍的

在滨海艺术中心看1928年的默片《圣女贞德的受难》,突然意识到:原来电影曾经是这样拍的!

片中贞德好几次伤心落泪,那泪水是在长时间面部特写镜头之后缓缓流下的,是真实情感的流露而非现代电影演员用眼药水加镜头切换造成的虚拟效果。

那个时代的电影演员都是演舞台剧出身,剧场演出可容不得你演了一半打住,点上眼药水再继续演绎热泪盈眶的场面。反观今天的影坛,有多少炙手可热的当红影星受过正规的表演艺术训练?有多少能够真正把自己投入到角色中,演绎出丰富而真实的情感?

过去是舞台剧的精英来演电影,现在则倒了过来:优秀的电影演员为了证明自己的演技,纷纷去演费力又不挣钱的舞台剧,比如不久前在纽约出演王尔德名剧《萨勒梅》的阿尔·帕西诺,又如前年在中央公园演免费露天话剧的梅里尔·斯特里普。

但问题在于:在今天以好莱坞为主流,信奉娱乐第一、票房至上的电影界,这样的优秀演员还剩多少?这样的电影业还能造就出多少未来的优秀演员?

再说开去,如果剥离技术的进步,几十年来我们的电影在编剧、导演、表演等方面的水准究竟有了多少提高呢?《圣 女贞德的受难》里没有性,没有枪战,没有三角恋,没有庸俗笑料,没有帅哥加美女,没有顶尖特技制作,更谈不上杜比环绕立体声,甚至连对白都得靠观众自己想 象,完全依靠演员精湛的演技来展现人性最真实的层面,触动观众的内心深处,令观众如痴如醉。相形之下,今年我看过的四十多部新片里,有哪一部在对人性的刻 画上超越了它?《钢琴师》?《时时刻刻》?《改编剧本》?谈不上!

记得六年前的一期《时代》周刊上有幅漫画讽刺电影工业的堕落:侏罗纪恐龙、蝙蝠侠、星际战警等一大堆娱乐片主角挤在泰坦尼克号上一起下沉。六年过去了,有什么起色吗?天知道!

话说回来,既然“电影艺术”已经演化成了“电影工业”,我们本来就不该抱太高期望。但不禁还是想问一句:在观众惊叹早期电影成就的同时,当代电影工作者们究竟作何感想?

沉醉于电影艺术的美,我感叹:原来电影也可以这样拍的!
